Computer science and engineering with the Data Science course as specialisation, focuses on data analysis, identifying business trends, and extracting valuable insights from vast amounts of data by the use of various scientific methods, algorithms, and processes to make critical business decisions and drive significant business growth. Data science refers to the science of extracting information from data.
Through this program, students will develop an in-depth understanding of data science and the techniques for analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to arrive at solutions. Data science is concerned with the acquisition, storage, retrieval, processing and finally the conversion of data into knowledge where the quantum of data is very large.
Our aim is to produce graduates who are well versed in the science of data. This means they will have enough knowledge and the skill set to address all aspects of data science.
The course is curated to include several interdisciplinary areas like: programming languages, algorithms, operating systems, databases , machine learning, data mining, business intelligence, big data, probability and statistics, data optimization, statistical simulation and data analysis, management decision analysis, decision models and predictive analysis. Students graduating from the program will have significantly more depth and breadth in the broad area of Data Science.
Data Science has gained paramount importance in the computer science domain. The need for scientists who understand data in all its aspects will continue to grow strongly.
